ABOUT THIS GAME

Stranded in an infinite, procedurally generated desert, you survive by reading the land: scorching days drain your waterskins, freezing nights demand fire, and every landmark tells the story of someone who pushed one dune too far. Your map is black until you walk it into view — a fog-of-war you etch open with your own steps, and the cairns you plant are the only landmarks that ever stay lit. A compass, scattered oases, ruins, wrecks and wells, and the long walk between waters. And the desert is not empty: scorpion nests, sand sinks and mirages punish the careless eye.

KEY FEATURES

A Truly Endless Desert
The world is computed, not stored: chunk-streamed terrain from a pure function of seed and coordinates. Dune seas, gravel regs, salt flats and rocky badlands flow seamlessly forever, and revisited ground is bit-identical.
Thirst Is the Antagonist
A deterministic day/night temperature curve drives everything: midday heat brings heatstroke and raging thirst, nights threaten hypothermia without fire or shelter. Roughly a day of walking separates one drink from disaster.
Navigate by Memory
Your map is a black void until you carve it open with your own feet. Fog-of-war reveals only the ground you've walked and a small halo around your crash site — and the cairns you plant are the only points that stay lit when you walk away. A compass strip, a field journal of discovered landmarks with rough bearings, and circling vultures over distant sites fill in the rest.
Climb the High Dunes
Giant dunes rise over the desert as dark horizon silhouettes — landmarks in their own right. Climbing one is slow, sweaty work that burns stamina and water fast, but from the crest a survey pulse reads the horizon and logs vague rumors of distant landmarks into your journal. Some silhouettes, of course, are lies the light told.
A Body That Tells the Truth
Movement is honest: stride slows on dunes and in sinks, exhaustion drags the walk into a shuffle, heatstroke hunches the shoulders and cold shivers them — and every step leaves a fading footprint, so your own trail shows how tired you are. The pack visibly fills as skins fill; the scarf answers the wind.
Environmental Storytelling
Abandoned camps, skeletons pointing north, sand-scoured wrecks, older-than-map ruins. Landmark types shift with distance from spawn — the world narrates how far from home you have walked.
Push Farther or Turn Back
You set out with a waterskin, rations, a compass and a tent — and no matches. Every full skin slows you down, every freezing night demands fire or canvas shelter, and the matches that light a fire are only ever found: in wrecks, caches and ruins. Camp, sleep, push on — and decide when the run ends before the desert decides for you.
Storms on the Horizon
Sandstorms telegraph their approach as a darkening wall, then cut visibility, accelerate thirst, and make even the compass doubt itself.
The Desert Bites Back
Nothing hunts you — but everything punishes carelessness. Scorpion nests skitter a warning before they sting, sand sinks swallow the slow and tax the flailing, and mirages recede forever until they burst into heat-shimmer. Every danger telegraphs first; every death is a decision you made.
Patience at the Water
With a found fishing line, cast from any oasis or well and wait out a real five seconds of thirst while the bobber dances. The water keeps its own time.
The Radio in the Wreckage
Salvage a broken emergency radio, hunt its battery, antenna and headset through landmarks and buried stories, then call for rescue from a high dune. Three days by the signal while storms gather — be there when they come, or be a story someone else finds.
