ABOUT THIS GAME

Uncover the weight of legacy in a first-person Gothic party RPG steeped in inherited guilt and haunting family secrets. Lead your party through treacherous dungeons, gather evidence of ancestral crimes, and pass judgment on the sins that shaped your bloodline.

KEY FEATURES

First-Person Dungeon Crawling
Dive into a hand-crafted estate of six interconnected floors rendered with a custom raycasting engine. Explore the Cinder Granary, Chapel of Borrowed Grace, Sepulchre of No Names, Kennels of the Red Hunt, the First Foundation, and the Court Below itself. Every wall is procedurally textured; every corridor patrolled by restless dead. Torches flicker with simulated flame physics, casting dynamic light and shadow as you search for evidence, secrets, and sanctuary.
Tactical Party Combat
Command a four-hero party in turn-based battles where positioning, resources, and timing are everything. Choose from 16+ actions including precise strikes, sweeping cleaves, disabling hexes, restorative absolves, and devastating companion co-operative attacks. Manage Momentum, Focus, Faith, Mana, and Guile across front and rear ranks. Apply and exploit conditions like Silenced, Staggered, Exposed, and Hidden. Face escalating bosses — including Veyrmourn, the Judge — whose strength grows with your accumulated corruption.
Investigation & Evidence Gathering
Collect 20 pieces of evidence — Records, Relics, Testimonies, and Context clues — across 5 crime chapters. Each crime requires three core sources and one optional context clue. Test your party's Resolve, Finesse, Lore, and Might through 17 evidence challenges, each offering three distinct approaches with unique risks: traps, enemy ambushes, resource drain, or physical harm. Solve two multiple-choice reconstruction questions per crime to unlock its seal and prepare for judgment.
Moral Judgment System
Pass judgment on each crime through one of three doctrines: Testimony, Stewardship, or Dominion. Each of the 15 judgment outcomes permanently alters your campaign, shifting companion trust, unlocking transformation abilities, modifying estate conditions, and changing the final confrontation. Your doctrine tally determines your ending title — from THE OPEN ACCOUNT to JUDGE IN BLOOD to BALANCER OF ACCOUNTS.
Character Progression
Choose from three starting disciplines — Oathbound, Warlock, or Confessor — and develop your hero through 27 talent trees. Three playable companions, Calren the Ranger, Ysra the Mage, and Garrick the Rogue, each have unique abilities and transformation arcs. Equip 18 items with two upgrade branches each and strategically distribute experience through the shared EP economy.
Companion Transformations
Three of your judgment verdicts permanently change your companions. Each transformation alters a companion's combat abilities, perception, and stat balance. Some gains carry significant personal cost — and every change endures for the rest of the campaign.
Sanctuary & Recovery
Each crime's sanctuary offers a critical choice after its guardian falls: Rest for full recovery while increasing Stirring, Retreat to the Great Hall at the cost of expedition pressure, or Leave and continue unchanged. The Stewardship doctrine's Closed Ledger judgment can absorb Stirring damage on retreat, but the choice echoes forward.
Atmospheric Audio
Nine area-specific music tracks seamlessly crossfade between exploration, combat, and narrative scenes. Sixty-four sound effects across 43 semantic categories use anti-repetition, retrigger crossfades, and intelligent voice limiting. Music and SFX can be toggled independently with a unified Q-key mute system.
Persistent Campaign
Save your progress with localStorage. An eight-version save migration system provides backward compatibility as the game evolves. Every judgment, talent purchase, equipment restoration, and companion transformation is permanently recorded.
