ABOUT THIS GAME
Age of Discovery is a turn-based exploration strategy game in the classic Civilization 1 tradition, focused entirely on discovery rather than empire. Sail from a guaranteed, hand-authored Europe into a seeded unknown world of continents, islands, and ruins; reveal fog of war tile by tile; make landfall that costs a full week; race four physical rival captains with no combat, only sightings and first-arrival claims; name your discoveries; spend gold on ship and crew upgrades; and read the monthly news every four weeks to learn what the others found. The whole voyage autosaves every week to your player account, or to local storage for guests.
KEY FEATURES
Seeded Unknown World
Europe is stamped from an authored low-resolution mask; everything beyond it is generated from a seed, with wedge scoring that balances all five starting directions or falls back to the best attempt.

Two-Mode Expedition
Sea travel is fast, ashore travel slow — making landfall and returning to your ship each consume a real week of the calendar.

Rivals Without Combat
Four AI captains sail the same map under the same movement rules with private fog of war. Sightings reveal a rival's position one time only; first arrival claims the site.

Monthly News Report
Every four weeks a newspaper-style report narrates the other captains' discoveries, landfalls, and storms — with coordinates only if you sighted them yourself.

Discoveries Worth Naming
Ruin, treasure, landmark, settlement, wonder, and legendary sites reward gold, supplies, and fame; typed sites identify exact forms, important finds take the name you give them and keep it on the map, log, and history.
